While Queen’s music might be unclassifiable, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is not. It’s a biopic of a musician, and it works hard to gloss over and recontextualize the life of Queen front-man Freddie Mercury for the sake of widening (and blandening) the story’s appeal. Where the band eschewed any sort of genre label aside from “grand,” the Mercury biopic is about as textbook film as they come.
That is, until you add in the ScreenX.
